In the opening day of the 1st Test between India and England, Yashasvi Jaiswal (76*) and Rohit Sharma (24) set a strong foundation for India in their first innings. However, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Jack Leach. Shubman Gill then joined Jaiswal, and together they guided India to finish the day at 119/1, still trailing England by 127 runs.

Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah took the final wicket of Ben Stokes, limiting England to 246 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role with three wickets, restricting England to 215/8 by Tea.


During the first session, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow's partnership had taken England to 108/3 at lunch. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja then struck, reducing England to 60/3 after Ben Stokes chose to bat first.
