Rishabh Pant Confident for Full IPL 2024 Season: Ponting

Ricky Ponting has delivered promising news for Delhi Capitals and Indian cricket enthusiasts, revealing that Rishabh Pant is confident about his participation throughout the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Pant, who suffered a severe car accident in December 2022, has been gradually regaining fitness and even attended India's matches recently.

Although Pant missed the previous IPL season, the ODI World Cup, and several crucial Test series, his return was anticipated for this year's IPL. Ponting acknowledged Pant's optimism about playing but remained uncertain about his role as wicketkeeper or captain.

"Rishabh is very confident about his comeback, but we're not sure yet about his specific role. While he's eager to play every game, keep wickets, and bat at No. 4, we'll have to assess his readiness closer to the tournament," Ponting stated.

Considering Pant's journey of recovery, Ponting emphasized the importance of managing his workload effectively. He expressed hope that even if Pant can't play all matches, his presence for at least ten games would significantly benefit the team.

Despite Delhi Capitals' struggles in the previous IPL edition, Ponting is optimistic about their prospects for the upcoming season. With new additions like Harry Brook and the potential return of key players like Anrich Nortje and Jhye Richardson, Ponting believes the team has the potential to perform better this year.

"We have a strong squad, and with the addition of players like Harry Brook and the return of some key players from injury, I'm confident that we can improve our performance from the last couple of seasons," Ponting concluded.
