Born in 1978 into a modest family, Sehwag's early years were marked by a deep passion for cricket despite limited resources. Growing up amidst the dusty lanes of Najafgarh, he honed his skills playing gully cricket with makeshift equipment, fueled by a borrowed television set that broadcasted matches. Under the guidance of his local coach, Tarak Sinha, Sehwag's talent blossomed, catching the attention of selectors with his natural flair and aggressive strokeplay.

Making his debut for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy in 1998 marked the beginning of Sehwag's ascent to national prominence. His fearless approach to batting was showcased on his Test debut against South Africa in 2001 when he smashed a century, setting the stage for a career defined by audacity and record-breaking feats.

Sehwag's legacy is etched with numerous milestones, including being the first Indian to score a triple century in Test cricket, achieving the feat twice. Additionally, his contributions played a pivotal role in India's triumphs in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
